We are proud to announce the success of our inaugural event, held on 24 October 2024, in collaboration with KU Leuven, SAGE Laboratory (University of Strasbourg) and Odesa National University of Economics. The roundtable, entitled “Economic-Legal Issues in Building a Sustainable Future: ESG Integration, Human Rights and Sustainable Development for Ukraine’s Economic Growth,” brought together more than 120 participants, including leading academics, policymakers and experts, to engage in timely and critical discussions on sustainable recovery and development.
Chaired by Ruslana Kuzina (KU Leuven) and our Director Dr. Natalia Mishyna (SAGE Laboratory, University of Strasbourg), with keynote speakers including Oksana Khymych (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Oksana Liashenko (University of Seville) and Alla Fedorova (Palacký University), the event focused on:
– integrating ESG principles into sustainable development for post-war recovery;
– aligning labour legislation with EU standards to facilitate business creation;
– rebuilding social services and infrastructure in a way that respects human rights.
Why it matters? In light of the war’s devastating impact, this event emphasized sustainable reconstruction and provided a platform for Ukrainian researchers to share knowledge that will contribute to Ukraine’s long-term resilience and EU integration efforts. Integrating sustainable practices aligns not only with environmental goals but also with core human rights and constitutional principles, ensuring that recovery efforts honor the rights and dignity of every individual. By fostering a recovery grounded in justice and equity, we aim to build a future that upholds both the rule of law and the fundamental rights of all Ukrainians.
We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to bring these discussions to the forefront and invite partners to join us in supporting Ukraine’s journey towards a sustainable future.
